A Smart phone merges the functions of a cellular phone and a handheld computer in a single device. It is different from a usual phone because it has operating system and local storage, so that users can add and store information, send and receive email, and install programs to the phone as they could do with a PDA. A smart phone has the same capability as a handheld computer and the communication ability of a mobile phone.
Smart phone is a converged, multi-use device that combines mobility, connectivity, and programmability. The Smart phone is hugely successful in the marketplace. They are very practical and functional for busy individuals in modern society. They are quickly taking over the market for mobile phones and PDA. Most smart phones are full featured with email facility, a complete personal organizer, a miniature keyboard, a touch screen, a built-in camera, contact management, built-in navigation hardware and software, the ability to read business documents, media software for playing music, browsing photos and viewing video clips, internet browsers.
A smart phone includes a QWERTY keyboard. This means that the keys are laid out in the same manner they would be on our computer keyboard.One common feature to the majority of the smart phones is a contact list that can store as many contacts as the available memory permits in comparison to regular phones that has a limit to the maximum number of contacts that can be stored.
